Get to Know Us

~ LaNetta Barnes ~

Terlingua Local - I spent my childhood summers with my Dad running and playing in the dirt around Terlingua and school time with my Mom in Corpus Christi.  My heart has always drawn me to Big Bend.  After college and marriage, I made Terlingua my permanent home.

I first visited Big Bend as part of an 8000 mile canoe expedition that led me up the Rio Grande and eventually to my wife, LaNetta.  I work as a local guide and will be happy to share my knowledge of the vast Big Bend area and all it has to offer

We are an adventurous couple who enjoy the great outdoors:  boating, fishing, hiking & traveling with our teardrop camper. We pride ourselves on offering our guests a comfortable, affordable and all around exceptional experience in the Big Bend.

The Story of Quicksilver Rentals in Terlingua Ghostown

It all started with the need for a place for our mothers to stay when they visited.  Our place had a guest room, but it did not have a bathroom - we shared a shower & toilet with other nearby tenants and it wasn't that close to the house.  So we built Mamacita's Casita for them.  It was only logical that it would make a great AirBnB when they were not here.  After the passing of LaNetta's father, we were able to move into his house and complete the renovations of our place, including the bath house.  Upon completion, we decided to stay in Papa's Casa and our place became Casa de Amigos (house of friends).

We hope you love them as much as we do..!
